How we check what these guides say

Written to be checked.
And checked before you read it.

Every guide on this site is fact-checked by the licence holder before it is published, cites the Act, regulator or ombud it relies on, and shows the date it was last reviewed. This page is the standard we hold them to, so you can hold us to it.

Reviewed · TitanDC

The answer comes first

A guide opens with the answer in two or three sentences. A reader who stops there has still been helped; the rest of the page is for the reader who wants to understand why.

Every page cites the instrument

Each guide lists the legislation, regulator or ombud it relies on, linked, so you can check it. Not a blog, not another broker’s article. A page with no primary source cannot be published: the build that produces this site refuses it.

  • Acts and regulations as published by government
  • The Financial Sector Conduct Authority and the Council for Medical Schemes
  • The FAIS Ombud, the National Financial Ombud Scheme and the Community Schemes Ombud Service
  • SARS, for anything with a tax consequence

General information, never advice

TitanDC is an authorised financial services provider (FSP 8972). That is exactly why these pages describe how things work rather than telling you what to buy. Advice is personal; it needs your circumstances, and it comes with a written record. A guide gives you the ground to stand on before that conversation.

Every figure is round and invented

Worked examples use numbers like R10 000 000 and R30 000 a month, chosen so the arithmetic is obvious. No real client’s figures ever appear on this site.

Checked by the licence holder before it goes live

A guide does not publish until a director who holds the licence has read it as prose and confirmed its claims: is every fact correct, does anything read as advice, do the sources support what the page says, and is anything missing that a client would ask next. Rejecting a page is cheap. Publishing a wrong one under an FSP licence is not.

Kept current, and dated so you can tell

Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. Tariffs, bands and regulated limits change, so the pages that quote a number — executor’s fees, late-joiner penalties, gap cover limits — are re-checked first. A material change moves the date; a typo does not.

If something is wrong

Tell us. Email reception@titandc.co.za with the page address and what you think is incorrect, and it goes to the person who checked it. A correction is published on the page with a new review date.
